Your landing page is killing your conversions

500 visitors.

Zero conversions.

Stats like these are more common than you think.

Imagine spending hours creating a landing page, messing around with colours and alignment, only to see no one sign up.

I've audited hundreds of landing pages for coaches, and the same five mistakes show up every time.

They're simple to fix, but they kill conversions when left unaddressed.

Which is why I want to walk you through each one and show you exactly how to fix them.

Mistake 1: Too many options

One page. One offer. One action.

If you're giving people 3 CTAs, 5 navigation links, and 2 different offers, you're asking them to make a decision. And when people have to choose between multiple options, they bounce.

Your landing page should have one purpose. That's it.

  • Remove the navigation bar.
  • Strip out secondary CTAs.
  • Delete the "Explore More" section.

Give them one clear path forward, and you'll see more people take it.

This is why I create landing pages using stand-alone links, rather than connecting them to a client’s website. It removes the distraction of clicking on additional links for visitors to the page.

Mistake 2: Weak headline

"Join my free course" isn't a headline. That's a button label.

Your headline should land on the exact problem they're trying to solve right now. It should be sharp, specific, and speak directly to their pain or goal.

Not: "Get my free guide"
Try: "Stop wasting 15 hours a week on marketing that doesn't convert"

Make it clear what problem you're solving. If they don't see themselves in the headline, they won't stick around long enough to read the rest of the page.

Mistake 3: No social proof

If I land on your page and there's zero proof that this works, why would I risk giving you my email?

You need to show that others have achieved results. Even one strong testimonial is better than a blank page.

Add:

  • Client testimonials with real names
  • Results (screenshots, metrics, outcomes)
  • Logos of companies you've worked with
  • Number of people who've already joined

Social proof removes doubt.

Without it, you're asking visitors to trust you based on nothing.

Mistake 4: Too many form fields

If you're asking for an email address, job title, company name, and how they found you, you're losing people.

Every extra field adds friction, and friction kills conversions.

Start with email and name only. That's enough to get them into your world. You can collect more data later in the welcome sequence.

Less friction means more signups.

Mistake 5: Poor CTA

"Submit" is not a call to action.

Your CTA should reinforce the value they're about to receive. It should tell them exactly what happens when they click that button.

Not: "Submit"
Try: "Send me the framework"

And if you can, add a reason to act now.

  • Limited spots.
  • Closing soon.
  • Time-sensitive bonus.

Urgency converts, but only if it's real.

Quick recap

If your landing page gets traffic but no conversions, look for these five mistakes:

  1. Too many options (keep it to one clear action)
  2. Weak headline (make it sharp and problem-focused)
  3. No social proof (show that it works)
  4. Too many form fields (just email and name)
  5. Poor CTA (reinforce the value, add urgency)

Fix these, and you'll see a massive improvement in how many visitors turn into subscribers.

Is LinkedIn dead? I'm hearing this a lot right now. My honest answer is yes and no, and I think the nuance here is important. Impressions are down, no question. LinkedIn has shifted away from pushing content out broadly and more towards putting it in front of people who the algorithm beleives is interested in your content. So if you're watching your numbers drop, that's probably why. It can feel like the platform has stopped working for you. But that doesn’t mean you can’t generate leads or...

I just wrapped up a 12-month review with a client. Their revenue from digital courses went from $3,750/month to $18,750/month. Plus, they did it with zero sales calls. That’s 15 monthly sales at $1,250 each. The engine behind all of it? A lead magnet that provided value and automated follow-up. If you're a coach or consultant who wants to build one but doesn't know where to start, then this newsletter is for you. Step 1: Pick the topic before you think about design This is where people get it...

Lead magnets are the bridge between your LinkedIn content and your newsletter. Making one is easy. Making a good lead magnet requires a lot more skill. And making a good lead magnet that converts subscribers into leads is a whole process in itself.
